TRIVIA
During the first awards ceremony 2006-07, the founders of iCONGO Jeroninio and Rex went to receive James Michael Lyngdoh at the airport. The flight was delayed, so while waiting at the airport they were standing with another gathering of various people who had come in with garlands and flowers to receive a religious guru. When James Lyngdoh walked out of the airport he joked that he did not like this kind of a welcome. Rex and Jerry told him that rightly so, they had just come barehanded as being his big fans they wanted to receive him personally and that they were there by themselves sans any flowers etc. James Michael Lyngdoh, the no nonsense chief election commissioner was the most humble person we have encountered. After having been booked at IHC by his colleagues, he refused to stay there and wanted to stay with everyone at the humble quarters at Gandhi Darshan. Everytime he left the auditorium, he would humbly ask the management for permission to leave the premises. To top it all, he sang oldies and country songs with the all the people and Bobby Cash every evening while at Gandhi Darshan.

Anu Aga and others were so mesmerized by the RIGHT TO INFORMATION songs by Charul and Vinay, presented in the cause related entertainment sequences between awards. They sang sans any music, with just an EKTARA, and received an encore twice. Anu Aga, who was awestruck by the simplicity of the program, told the founders that this was the most simple and dignified awards ceremony she had ever attended.

Important: In the past 4 years the "KARMAVEER" has become a highly recognised and coveted CIVILIAN award for noble Samaritans & laureates who have done something for social justice and citizen action. To maintain the sanctity of the award we have some basic standards that we follow as guiding principles. We choose our awardees after careful scrutiny and then follow a thorough due diligence and selection process. As a strict norm we do not give awards in absentia and have refused to give away awards in the past 2 years, even to some very eminent people that included Young MPs, Movie Stars, Global Celebrities and even highly eminent and celebrated global citizens and Corporate Captains. So kindly do not ask us to relax our norms and help us to maintain the sanctity and austerity of the "KARMAVEER" ethos. We also do not give away awards till we find the right people in each category and may carry forward a category award for subsequent years if we have been unable to find the right KARMAVEER. The awards have inspired cutting edge citizen action for social justice and communal harmony by showcasing various NOBLE laureates to inspire others to do something for society. The awards have also made chosen laureates more proactive as most have felt that they need to now do more and live up to the ethos of being a KARMAVEER. Last year we also had a leading blue chip finance company that offered to buy our award for their MD and CSR head. Kindly refrain from approaching us with such offers as the KARMAVEER awards are not given in exchange for money and we have even declined big sponsorships of companies and brands that are not in sync with our philosophy of BEING & LEADING THE CHANGE THAT ONE WANTS TO SEE IN THIS WORLD.
